The city of Shaoxing covers 8256 square
kilometers. It has six administrative divisions,
Yuecheng district, Shaoxing county, Shangyu
city, Shengzhou city, Xinchang county, and
Zhuji city with a population of 433,000,000,
including 620,000 towns-men. It has a tropical
and subtropical humid monsoon climate, it
has a rainfall of 1300 millime-ter annually.
It is north of Qiantang river with meandering

In 2070 B.C., Yu the Great gathered and

Dynasty in Chinese history. During the Age
of Spring and Autumn, about 2500 years ago,
Yue State located its capital in Shaoxing.

In 2003 total value of GDP of Shaoxing reached
108.8 billion RMB, GDP per capita attained
3000 us dollars, the general financial income
reached 10.5 billion RMB, and as a result
Shaoxing was listed among the first 30 greatest

undergoing the second stage of industrialisation.
